What is Disk Defragmenter and how does it work?

Fragmentation occurs over time as files are saved, changed and deleted. When a file is changed or saved it may be stored in a different location on the hard disk than the original. This causes your computer to eventually become slower and slower has the hard drive has to search in multiple locations to open a file.
